Dedicated to the mission of advancing gender equity, AAUW SJ offers our 250+ members a range of opportunities to support the community as well as many avenues to relax, have fun, and enjoy life long learning with friends old and new.

In addition to San José, AAUW SJ welcomes new members who are residents of Campbell, Santa Clara, and Milpitas. Other local AAUW Branches include Los Gatos, Morgan Hill, Fremont, and Palo Alto.

Leading the Fight for Gender Equity Since 1880

AAUW is an acronym for American Association of University Women. At its founding in Chicago 1880, it was part of a growing movement of educated women coming together to support each other and other women.

Today, AAUW welcomes members from all over the world, both women and men, joining together to lead the fight for gender equity in higher education and beyond. With a strong record of advocacy and action, AAUW continues to break barriers and defend the rights of women in education and the workplace.
