World of Taste, April 22, Benefits Gifts for Teens

Gifts for Teens, featuring action events, helps 1350 homeless and low-income needy local teenagers. Everyone is invited to participate in two fun springtime events benefiting Gifts for Teens. On April 22, a $25 ticket buys a foodies’ delight, “A World of Tastes”, an international themed food and cultural lunch hosted by the History Club of Los Gatos. Call Theresa, 408 226 6365. The exciting news is that Gifts for Teens will give 1350 low-income teens a gift card for new shoes of their choice courtesy of a Sharks Foundation’s grant. Fun, full Gifts for Teens bags are distributed during the holidays through several Agencies and motivate impoverished teens to seek social services – housing, counseling, job training, and health care help.

The World On Stage

AAUW San Jose raised thousands of dollars this Saturday at our international fundraiser “The World on Stage”. Geri Madden, our Branch President, says “I am not much of world traveler myself, but now I feel that I’ve had a front row seat to a slice of culture from Mexico, Persia, India, Egypt, Cuba, Tibet, China & Turkey. The performers volunteered their time to help raise funds to help AAUW fight discrimination against women and girls in education and the workplace through AAUW’s Legal Advocacy Fund. The performers were top notch & accomplished in their art. Eva Levine, the Branch’s Legal Advocacy Fund Vice President and her enthusiastic volunteers are to be congratulated.
