San Jose Local Scholarship for Women

American Association of University Women – San Jose scholarships are awarded annually to women who have a permanent home address in Campbell, Milpitas, San Jose, and Santa Clara, California, who have completed two full years of an accredited college or university, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and who are enrolled in a four year institution as an undergraduate. Grants are based on the strength of the application and an interview with the Local Scholarship Committee. The number and size of scholarships awarded depend on the funds available.

In principle and practice, AAUW values and seeks diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or class.

  • Please note that AAUW- San Jose will not award a scholarship to a student who has already received two scholarships from AAUW- San Jose.
  • For a complete application package:

    1. Complete and submit this application form here. (Or, prepare on paper and mail it.)
    2. Provide an official transcript from all colleges or universities attended.
    3. Prepare a brief statement of not more than three paragraphs, in which you state your goals, express your attitude towards these goals, and clarify your determination to achieve them. Be sure to include your name and contact information on the statement document.     Complete applications must be received or postmarked by April 15, 2019.

    The awards will be made by May 20, 2019. We anticipate completing interviews the first 3 weeks of May 2019. Please state dates you will be available should the committee decide to interview you.

By submitting an application, the applicant consents to the use and review of the information contained therein by the AAUW San Jose Local Scholarship Committee for the purpose of awarding the scholarships. The applicants will not be automatically enrolled, or otherwise enrolled to receive extraneous emails and/or other solicitations from AAUW or any other entity.
